How to Draw A Bubble A
Step 1
The first phase of your Bubble A is excellent and easy. Before you start, you can make it easier by lightly drawing a regular letter A with a pencil.
This can serve as a blueprint for Bubble A, which we are working on. Try to make it very easy, as we will delete that later. It should look like the letter C, slightly reversed.
Try to keep the pen or pencil steady as you draw to keep the line smooth and smooth.
This will serve as the lower left part of the A, and once it’s drawn, we’re good to go!
Step 2
Now that we have the front of the A, we’re going to draw much more than we did in the first step. You will be fine if you take it slow and follow the image we provide!
The line extends from the top of that C shape we drew earlier and upwards like a stepped hill. At the lid of the A, it will slowly fall back down.
This part can be surprisingly difficult as it needs a long, smooth stripe, so make sure you draw well and gradually. It may bring a few attempts, but you’ll get there!
You must look closely at our reference image as you draw, as this is the best way to keep the overall shape of the letter. If you have trouble, you can use a light pencil to draw a rough outline.
Then you can go over the line with your darkest colored pencil or pen. We can start pulling the final design in step three when you’re happy with how it looks.
Step 3
Next, we’ll draw the rest of the outline for your letter A bubble. This step may require a steady hand, and we’ll draw even more than the previous step.
You’ll extend the line from top to bottom where you exited off in the earlier step. It will again be a gradual descent until you do a leg for the right side of the A.
If you’ve done it correctly, it should mirror the left side you’ve sketched so far. Finally, you can combine both halves of the A with an outward curved line towards the bottom of the page. Then you can start drawing the inner details of the letter!
Step 4
The next step is to draw the gap in the middle of the letter. You can get creative with a circle, square, or even a heart shape. It’s up to you! For now, though, we’ll stick with our chosen design.
The hole will look a bit like a bark. As you can see in the contact image, it’s a roughly triangular shape of three curved lines.
Let’s start making the letter look like a bubble when that’s done. This is done with some curved lines that give it a textured look. To do this, mark some stripes along the inside contour of the A to give it some depth.
We kept them fairly simple in our example, but you could add more if you want the Bubble to have more depth. You can play around with this to make it look exactly how you want it.
There’s no wrong way to do this; you can add more depth to the Bubble by counting more stripes and conditions!
Once these stripes are marked, we can move on to phase 5, where we will add some detail and finishing touches!
Step 5
If you’ve ever seen a bubble, you know that they reflect light or the objects around them. We’ll recreate what this looks like as we add the finishing touches to your Bubble Letter A.
Add a fairly extensive oval shape around the top of the message and a much smaller one below the hole.
The idea is that these reflections appear as if they came from the same light source. Place them roughly on the same side of the letter.
This is another detail to play with, as your reflections and textures don’t have to match ours. You could even go one step further and draw a mirror image of a face or object on the A.
Before proceeding to the last step, ensure you erase all the pencil lines and ensure everything is drawn the way you want.
If you have a nice felt-tip pen, it would be perfect for going through all the lines of the drawing.
If you are happy with the look, we can finalize some colors!
Step 6
The hard parts are over, and we can have some fun with colors! For our example, we chose a nice blue color scheme.
You will witness in our contact image that we use diverse shades of light and dark blue. These further help make the letter look like a bubble with volume.
Let’s also use some more subtle white shapes to add more shimmer to the color. If you like our design, you can recreate it in your drawing.
While coloring, try out your favorite brushes and experiment with different colors. Trying out a brand-new set of art tools you’ve never used can be fun!
Mixing different art mediums to make the colors pop can also be fun. For example, if you mainly use pastel colors, you can mix in some colors for some color accents.
Now that you have your letter ready let’s think about how we can make your drawing even more interesting with some fun ideas.
