Man dies, multiple others injured in Northern Territory bus crash

A man has died and multiple others have been injured in a bus crash in the Northern Territory.

Emergency services were called to the scene in the remote community of Hermannsburg — 125 kilometres south-west of Alice Springs – about 3.30pm on Monday after receiving a report of a crash.

Northern Territory Police, Fire and Rescue Service and St John attended the crash site along Larapinta Drive.

Queensland Police were called to Ashmore after reports an allegedly stolen vehicle had crashed into surrounding bushland.

Medical staff also travelled from Alice Springs to help the local clinic treat the injured passengers.

Motorists were asked to be aware of emergency vehicles operating in the area.

Heavy vehicles were advised to consider using Namatjira Drive to avoid the scene.

The major crash investigation unit and NT Worksafe are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
