Police said alleged the teen was involved in a verbal altercation with two men before they assaulted him and stomped on his head.

A 40-year-old man from South Melbourne was charged with affray and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

He was expected to appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Sunday.

A 37-year-old man from St Kilda was charged with affray and released on bail to return to court in October.
