Formwork is a type of mould which one can use in construction. This mould gives a desired shape or size by mixing concrete in it. There are many kinds of formwork which one can easily buy from the market. There are different types of material which can help to make a formwork. Formwork is also known as ‘shuttering’.

Timber Formwork:

The first and the foremost formwork is the timber formwork. One can easily assemble this formwork on its site because this formwork is easy to use. This timber formwork can work in any of the conditions. It does not have much weight. Such type of timber is economical for small projects.

Pros and Cons:

Like the two sides of a coin, each thing has its advantages and disadvantages. Some of them are:

  • It is very useful as it can get any desirable shape.
  • It is light in weight.
  • One can easily understand the timber formwork.
  • There is no need for skilled labor.

  • It reduces the strength of concrete.
  • Maximumly, it can be used only 5-6 times.

Plywood Formwork:

Another type of formwork is plywood formwork. The usage of this formwork mainly depends on the erections caretaker. This formwork is built for decking and sheathing. Such types of formworks stay in any of the weather conditions whether it is rainy or summer season.

  • One can easily cut this plywood formwork in any shape.
  • It smoothens the surface.
  • With the help of plywood formwork, the work becomes easier.

Aluminum Formwork:

The aluminum formwork becomes economical in the construction process if it is used repetitively. It has less strength due to low density. These formworks are the same as aluminum formwork.

Pros:

Some of them are:

  • It boosts the speed of construction.
  • Up to 250 times it can come in use.
  • It smoothens the surface.
  • It needs a minimum of time to get settled.

Due to its long durability, it is one of the most common and popular formwork. The installation process of this framework is very easy. It reduces the effect of honeycombing, and they are helpful in both curved and circular shapes.

  • They are durable and stronger.
  • Formworks are waterproofs.
  • Quality product
  • Cost-effective

Formwork Based On Structural Components:

The formworks are also classified based on the component of the structures. Some of the components are beam, wall, foundation, and column.

These all the formworks are according to different buildings. And the design of each formwork varies according to the structure and construction plans.

From the above, it is concluded that the formwork is mainly used in the construction process. It depends upon the formwork you are going to use. As timber formwork is the most common formwork among all the formworks. The quality makes each formwork different from the other. Wall, beam, foundation are some of the formwork which depends on the structural components.
