Razer Blade 15 (2022), is a great example of consistency. n my reviews of the Razer Blade 15 (2023), I have highlighted that the 15-inch gaming laptop looks fantastic, runs smoothly, and is a bit expensive relative to the features it offers. This is also true here.

Gamers are likely familiar with the Razer Blade 15’s general pitch. The Razer Blade 15 is a slim, lightweight, and light gaming laptop that features stylish design and powerful components. You’ll pay more to avoid the weight and bulk of cheaper gaming laptops. The Blade 15 is a great gaming laptop that delivers a satisfying gaming experience without weighing you down or overwhelming your desk.

It’s still a problem because the keyboard is too small and hot. It is also difficult to recommend higher-end configurations, which can cost upwards of $4,000, to anyone but the most avid gaming laptop enthusiast.

The Blade 15 is still a solid choice for PC gamers looking for a stylish mix of performance and style. For our complete Razer Blade 15 review, please read on.

Razer Blade 15 (2022), Price and Configurations

There are 13 Razer Blade 15 models, with a range of $2,300. All have 15.6 inch screens, but that’s not all there is.

The Razer Blade 15 Base Model is the lowest priced model. It has an Intel Core i7-11800H processor, a 1080p screen at 144 Hz, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX3060 GPU. 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX3060 GPU. The model is $1,800 which is quite expensive considering its mid-range specs. An equivalent MSI GS66 (opens in new window) would cost you $1,300.

The Razer Blade 15 – UHD is the most expensive model. It has an Intel Core i9-12900H processor, a 4K screen at 144 Hz, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX3080 Ti GPU. 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, and an Intel Core i9-12900H processor. The model is priced at $4,000 which makes it difficult for most potential buyers to afford a gaming laptop.

Our review model was on the higher end with an Intel Core i7-12800H processor, a 1440p screen at 240 Hz, Nvidia GeForce RTX3080 Ti GPU and 32 GB RAM. It also had a 1 TB SSD. The laptop costs $3,700 which is still quite expensive. The price of a similar configuration, although slightly less powerful, Alienware M15 R7 configuration (opens in new tab), costs $2,800.

Razer Blade 15 (2022): Design

The Razer Blade 15 model this year is very similar to the previous years. The chassis is black matte with a light-up Razer logo at the lid. There’s not much ornamentation. It measures 14.9×9.3×0.7 inches and is 4.6lbs, which makes it very thin. It was easy to store in my backpack for the day.

The Blade 15 is a subtle machine, so it feels unnecessary to describe it in detail. Except for the Razer logo it doesn’t scream “gaming laptop”.

The Blade 15 does not have vents at the back like chunkier devices. Instead, they place them all on top. The keyboard heats up during gameplay, perhaps because of this.

Razer Blade 15 (2022): Ports

The Razer Blade 15 is a great laptop with a lot of ports. You’ll find a power socket, two USB-A ports and a USB-C port on the left. You’ll also find a Kensington lock port as well as an HDMI port, a USB port, and a USB port-A port. There is one problem: a large USB connector that you use for gaming peripherals will likely block one of the USB A ports.

It’s worth noting, however, that the USB-C ports are capable of providing up to 15W electricity but not enough to power the Blade 15. To maintain optimal performance, you will want to keep the Blade 15 connected with its proprietary connector.

Razer Blade 15 (2022), Keyboard and touchpad

The keyboard and touchpad on the Razer Blade 15 are just as bad as previous Blade models. To accommodate the Blade 15’s speakers the keyboard is a full inch and a half shorter than the other side. This makes the keys feel cramped, especially the half-size up/down arrow keys. There’s no reason to squeeze the buttons on a laptop that large.

The touchpad is also large and sensitive. The touchpad is not only difficult to use, but it also gets under my palm all the time. This caused me to make numerous formatting mistakes while typing, as well as some double-clicks when gaming. These issues can be fixed, but they are frustrating nonetheless.

Razer Blade 15 (2022): Display

All Razer Blade 15s come with a 15.6 inch screen. The details can be very different beyond that. They can range from 1080p up to 4K and 144 Hz up to 360 Hz. It would be too difficult to list all possible configurations. However, suffice it to state that you can choose to prioritize frame rate or resolution. (I prefer resolution because it’s better to multimedia and for productivity, but that’s just my opinion.

Razer Blade 15 (2022): Gaming performance

Razer Blade 15 offers good gaming performance. You can choose to play at 1080p with faster frame rates or enjoy the full 1440p resolution. The Blade 15 compares to two gaming laptops.

To be fair, the Blade 15 didn’t benchmark as well as the ROG Strix Scar. The gap was slightly smaller when we compared games at Blade 15’s native resolution of 1440p. The Strix Scar Edition outperformed the Blade 15 by 4 frames per second. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, for example, ran at 62 fps with the Strix Scar Edition and 60 fps with the Blade 15. The Blade 15 was able to run below 60 frames per second on one title, Dirt 5. Dirt 5 scored 58 frames per second.

My qualitative tests at 1440p showed that I had consistent good performance, especially when the Nvidia GeForce experience software handled the optimization. Age of Empires IV was able to run at around 90 fps, while Final Fantasy XIV managed 60 fps. Cyberpunk 2077 was slower at 45 fps. However, that was due to ray-
