Step 1:
We will start this guide on how to draw a salmon by creating the outline of the fish. Use curved lines to remove the lips of the salmon on top. Next, we will describe almost the entire body of the fish. These outlines can be drawn with longer curved lines coming down from the top of the fish where you pulled the lips. The fish’s body will become thinner as it descends and curves sharply to the left, as shown in the reference image. Once this outline of the body has been drawn, we are ready for step 2 of the guide!
Step 2:
For the second part of this salmon drawing, we will add some facial features as well as fins and fins for the fish. First, draw a small circle for the eye of the fish, then add some minor details inside the mouth. Then use a curved, bumpy line to add the dorsal fin above the fish. Next, we will draw two small fins on the front of the fish. These will be pretty triangular and will have a jagged edge. Finally, outline the caudal fin. None of these will be exceptionally detailed at this time, but we’ll add a few more in the next few steps!
Step 3:
You’ve finished drawing the outlines for this guide on removing a salmon, so we’ll add some details and internals for the remaining steps. First, draw curvy, wavy lines near the head of the salmon for the gills. Next, we’ll pull out another small triangular fin near the bottom of the fish and point to the left. That’s all we’re going to add in this step, so once you’ve drawn all those details, you’re ready to move on to step four of the guide!
Step 4:
In this fourth part of your salmon drawing, we will add some facial details and smaller fins. First, using the reference image as a guide, you can draw more wavy lines around the face area to give it more definition. Next, we’ll draw smaller triangular fins near the bottom of the fish’s tail. When you’ve completed all the details of this step, you’re ready to add the finishing touches as we move on to the next step!
Step 5:
We’ll add the details and finishing touches in this fifth step of our guide on how to draw a salmon. This step will mainly focus on adding some textural detail to the body of the salmon. First, draw straight lines on each fin of the fish. Once you’ve drawn those line details, we’ll add those texture details.
