On May 1st, 1959, she was born in Richmond, Virginia. She grew up in a middle-class household with two working parents, where she learned proper behaviour and morals. Her father was a funeral director and owned the A.D. Price Funeral Home. Her mother worked as a teacher. Sherry attended the University of Michigan to pursue a master’s degree after finishing her early education there. After that, she drove herself to Morgan State University to finish her degree in mathematics because she was passionate about the subject and wanted to pursue her teaching career.

Sherry grew up in a polite family where she was born and reared. Her mother, a schoolteacher, inspired her with a strong sense of purpose. Her father was a funeral director. When she was a young girl, she went through a horrific tragedy. She tragically lost both of her parents in a horrible mishap that was brought on by a mistake.
