Smooth, Roller-Delayed Action
First, the ZF-9 is completely bufferless, unlike the majority of other sporting rifle platforms, including PCCs and ARPs.
That means there’s no buffer tube in the way that adds weight and length, no more buffer springs to fatigue, and no more buffer weights to tune. The whole action is simpler.
Any instance of design complexity is an opportunity for failure, and a roller-delayed blowback action, which the ZF-9 sports, is simpler than a gas impingement action.
In addition to simplicity of design, Zenith Firearms’ roller-delayed blowback action is smooth-shooting, performs very well with suppressors, and is extremely reliable.
In many ways, roller-delayed blowback action is not just superior to direct blowback, but to gas-driven actions, like gas impingement and gas piston systems, and that action is at the heart of the ZF-9.
A Proven Cartridge
The 9mm is not going to outperform the 5.56 in terms of speed or stopping power. It also won’t outperform .40 S&W or .45 ACP, at least not on raw power.
But you know what it will do? It will produce less recoil and a much lower risk of overpenetration. It will also offer an excellent balance of power, given these constraints.
Furthermore, 9mm is fairly cheap and widely available. It might be the most ubiquitous cartridge out there, barring .22LR and 12 gauge target loads.
Also, a PCC has some advantages over a rifle-caliber ARP. Though the power will be lessened, pistol cartridges tend to perform better out of a shorter barrel, and on top of that, they’re light, kick less, and are more affordable.
Quality Components
The ZF-9 is made with a cold hammer-forged 4150 CMV threaded barrel, so you can add a flash hider, suppressor, or compensator.
It also sports fully ambidextrous controls, including a safety selector lever, bolt release, mag release, and non-reciprocating cocking handle.
This modern roller-delayed PPC also boasts a full-length 1913 Pic rail as well as a Picatinny endplate for adding shooting attachments or accessories.
It also comes with a high-quality 30-round magazine, and spares are available on Zenith Firearms website. For convenience, the ZF9 is also compatible with select Glock and Scorpion magazines.
A Compact Footprint Paired with a High Degree of Expandability
Because the ZF9 is completely bufferless, it has a more compact profile than many PCCs and is more comparable in size to an ARP.
Yet, despite this compact footprint, it has plenty of room for attachments, thanks to its full-length Pic rail and endplate.
Expanding and customizing this platform with weapon-mounted lights, lasers, optics such as red dot or reflex sights, sidesaddle mounts, sling mounts and more is surprisingly easy given the number of mounting points.
