About .375 CheyTac Ammo

The .375 CheyTac cartridge is not one you’ve likely heard of unless you run in circles devoted to ELR, or extreme long-range, shooting. Honestly, even if you did it wouldn’t be surprising if you hadn’t heard of it before.

Partly this is because .375 CheyTac (also called .375 CT) is a fairly new cartridge, partly because it’s not that widely available commercially, and partly because it is so expensive.

Be that as it may, it is one of the best ELR cartridges out there, hands down. Here are some things you should know about it.

Performance-Wise, There Are Few Cartridges If Any That Are As Good for ELR Shooting

The .375 CheyTac cartridge is a variant of the earlier .408 CT, which is its parent. It was a wildcat cartridge until 2017 when it became recognized by the CIP.

Both it and its parent were designed for extreme-long range shooting; as for the .375 CheyTac, it is typically loaded with a 350 or 375 grain bullet that is CNC-machined from solid copper.

Because these bullets are machined from solid copper, they exhibit extremely consistent radial symmetry that enables next-level accuracy, even at extreme ranges, greater than 1000 meters.

They also have very high BC scores and high muzzle velocities, depending on load data, usually between 2900 and 3000 FPS.

Consequently, the .375 CT shoots very flat and is minimally affected by wind draft, compared to some other bullets. This makes it an excellent cartridge for long-range shooting.

Compared to the .408 CT, the .375 may even be considered a better ELR cartridge because it shoots faster, flatter, and drops less. It doesn’t carry as much energy to the target, but for competition, that hardly matters.

Because it utilizes such low drag bullets that are so precisely machined, it delivers sub-MOA performance with rifles that are chambered for it, like the M200 Intervention, also manufactured by CheyTac.

Cartridges are expensive; usually more than $10 per round, but that’s a small price to pay for the sort of performance .375 CheyTac ammo can deliver at ranges in excess of a mile.

The .375 CheyTac Is an Improvement on the .408 CheyTac Cartridge

To pit the .37 CT specifically against its parent, the .408 CT, the .375 delivers a higher ballistic coefficient and shoots faster and flatter; it also exhibits less spin drift.

On top of that, the .375 outperforms other common ELR cartridges like .50 BMG on spin drift as well.

Where Can You Get .375 CheyTac Ammo?

Because relatively few manufacturers load .375 CheyTac ammo, if you get a rifle chambered for it you should be prepared with a supplier of ammo (unless you load your own, which is also an option).

One great place to get .375 CheyTac ammo, as well as other ELR rifles and accessories, is B&B Firearms. Specialists in the discipline of precision and ELR shooting, B&B Firearms offers a wide range of ammo and rifles while offering top-tier customer service.
