Raahein Gharana began in 2020 during the pandemic, a time when we were all coming together to support each other. During this period, we connected with numerous musicians and craftsmen who shared their struggles with us. Their daily basic needs were not being met because all their programs and performances were canceled. We soon realized how disorganized this sector was, and we decided to get involved.

Artists’ Needs
Our journey began by connecting with a diverse group of musicians and craftsmen. We discovered their deep desire to continue their craft, despite the challenges they were facing. These artists, who are the torchbearers of our culture, heritage, and legacy, expressed two primary needs: the opportunity to advance their original work and the means to reach an audience.
Challenges Faced by Musicians
The artists shared that they never had the chance to fully develop their original compositions and practice their craft as musicians. Even if they managed to create something, they were worried about how to reach people. In today’s digital world, they lacked the resources to produce videos or create assets that could help them grow and showcase their talent. This made us realize the importance of supporting them in a meaningful way.
The Birth of Raahein
Thus, Raahein was born, a name that symbolizes “pathways.” We started this journey with 13 artists and produced our first song. Since then, we’ve worked with 85 musicians across six songs. Our dream has expanded—we aim to create a musical library across all 28 states of India, featuring native sounds and instruments, just as the sitar is recognized worldwide.
Our Mission and Vision
Rahe is dedicated to keeping the essence of musicianship, mentorship, research, and experience alive through music. Our mission is twofold:
- Recognition and Support: We want to provide artists with the recognition they deserve and a sense of belonging. These musicians have been the torchbearers of our cultural legacy, and it is essential that their contributions are acknowledged and valued.
- Cultural Preservation: We aim to offer new generations the opportunity to discover and explore our rich musical heritage. By creating a global presence for our traditional instruments and sounds, we hope to ensure that they continue to thrive.
Empowering Artists with Dignity
To truly empower someone, it’s essential not to take away their self-confidence, dignity, or sense of belonging. That’s why at Raahein, we don’t just give donations or attempt to “save” these artists—we are no saviors. Instead, we are building a “gharana,” a family, a community where music, heritage, and musicians come together.
Conclusion
To realize this vision and build a self-sustaining community, we need the support of people who are passionate about preserving and promoting our musical heritage. Join us in being a catalyst for change. Stand with Raahein to support these talented artists, so they can continue to share their unique voices and contributions with the world.
