When we tested the Logitech G Pro X, which costs $129.99, it often seemed like the company had thought of everything. Comfort? Yes, it’s a good fit. Would you prefer earpads made of leatherette or velour? Both are there. What do you think? Great, and the drivers are 50mm. There’s also software to make your voice as clear and crisp as possible on streams or in voice chat, as well as wires and a carrying case to go with it.

This is also a stylish try to be the best gaming headset.(opens in new tab). But the software can be hard for new users to understand, and some of the settings are strange. For most people, that price is too high, especially for a wired headset. However, the Pro X is worth a look for pros who want great sound and a lot of features.
Design and ease of use
These aren’t the usual headphones for gaming. Many of the headsets that compete with the G Pro X have bold designs or RGB, but the G Pro X’s design is both high-end and elegant. The headband is made of leatherette-covered steel, and the cups are held by aluminium forks. All of these are black, with the Logitech G mark in the middle of a silver circle. It has a spiral pattern where light bounces off of it, which really draws your attention. There’s no doubt that you’re paying more for better goods here.

The package comes with two sets of earpads. Logitech includes both leatherette and velour pads, but the leatherette ones are already in place. The vinyl pads were used for most of my tests. The leatherette seals better, but the velour is lighter and breathes better, so I liked it better for longer practises.

Even though my head is slightly bigger than normal, the G Pro X headphones fit well without being too tight, and even the biggest ears have plenty of room in the cups. The Pro X aren’t very heavy at 11.3 ounces (338 grammes).
The condenser mic can be taken off. If you’re playing games with other people, streaming, or in a meeting, it clips to the left cup. If you’re just listening to music, watching a movie, or playing a single-player game without talking, you can pop it out.
Audio Performance
The Pro X was a great pair of headphones for gaming, listening to music, and talking on the phone. I thought the sound was better when I used the USB adapter instead of the y-splitter that came with the headset to connect it to a gaming laptop or PC.

I played Hitman 2 on the Pro X, and it worked very well. I could hear guards on the hunt walking, and the surround sound was great for both that and sounds like the wind blowing around a beach house. It also has a strong low end, which made the shots pop.
I also tried it while listening to music. Linkin Park’s “What I’ve Done” had strong singing, guitars, drums, and a bass that thumped.
Even without the Blue Voice features (see Features and Software, below), the boom mic was clear during talks, though it could sometimes pick up hissing sounds.
The sound in general is a bit better with the leatherette ear cups than the velour pads. The first ones just fit better around the ear and keep sound from getting out. But the velour ear cups were better for long periods of play or listening.

Parts and Programs
Logitech’s G Hub software is behind most of the Pro X’s most interesting features.
The most famous is Blue Voice (styled as Blue VO!CE), which uses software presets and changeable settings to make your voice as clear and crisp as you want it to be while streaming or just playing games online.
For new streamers, the setup may be a little scary, but those who have used audio tools for broadcasting before will feel right at home. The left side is the easiest to get to. It shows your mic settings and a set of presets if Blue Voice is turned on. You can record your voice, and it will keep playing back as you try each setting.
There are also more advanced choices, such as an EQ that you can change, a high-pass filter that gets rid of low-frequency sounds, a de-esser that stops hissing and other high-frequency sounds that are annoying, and more.
In my experience, the two presenter presets and the “Low voice – loud” preset made my voice even and clear. They also got rid of some hissing in the background and some office background noise behind me. Is it as good as a microphone that you have to buy? No, but for what it is, it’s really good. In conversations with coworkers, they found that the difference was clear, but that some filters, like the one that made the sound like AM radio, just made them mad.

You can save your profiles and make them public or available to other computers that can view your account.
There is also an equaliser for the game sounds, with settings for FPS and MOBA games, as well as a few from pro esports players.
The last big set of features is in the acoustics tab of G Hub. There are sliders for the microphone and the level. But what’s more important is that you can turn DTS Headphone:X 2.0 spatial surround sound on or off.
Accessories and Settings
The Logitech G Pro X costs $129.99 and comes with a carrying bag, leather and velour earpads, PC and phone cables, a PC Y splitter, and Blue Voice technology through the software.
The Logitech G Pro costs $99.99 and has the same look, but it doesn’t have velour earpads, Blue Voice, a phone line, or 3D audio.

Bottom Line
The Logitech G Pro X can be used in many ways and is even comfy and high-end. It sounds good and comes with every cable and device you could need. It doesn’t just feel like a high-quality product, but a high-quality package.
But the software needed to make the key features work, while impressive, will turn off some newbies. If you don’t know much about mics and sound, you should try some things out. Also, some people think $129.99 is a lot to pay for a headset.
But people who try it will see that it is a high-end, professional tool, especially if they already know how to use a microphone.
