How to Draw A Cheetah
Step 1
To start this cheetah drawing guide, let’s start with the head. Using the reference image as a guide, you can see that he has a slightly pointed ear attached to the rounded top of his head.
Thus, the muzzle has a rounded square shape with a small chin underneath.
Once the head looks like our reference image, add it to your cheetah drawing in the next few steps.
Step 2
In this next step, we will add to your cheetah drawing. First, you can run a simple line from the head to the front of your cheetah’s neck.
Then you can draw the inner ear shape, a triangular nose shape, and a simple line for the mouth to complete this face step.
Step 3
One way to tell a cheetah from a leopard is by the distinctive “tear mark” on their faces.
First, draw a small eye on the side of the face as it appears in the reference image. Then you can use a curved line from the face to the mouth to create the teardrop mark.
Step 4
In step 4 of this cheetah drawing guide, we will draw the cheetahs back. This extends just behind the head in a long, curving line.
The reference image shows you how long this line should be.
Next, carefully draw another line down the front of the chest to add the top leg we will draw next.
Step 5
Cheetahs are known for their speed, but they need their legs for that speed! So it is better to add some paws in this step of drawing cheetah.
The front leg is slightly straighter than the back leg and comes down from the line attached to the chest you drew in the previous step.
Then, add a curved line for the belly before drawing the thicker, slightly bent hind leg.
Step 6
We will add the long tail in this step of our cheetah drawing guide. This tail is done with a thin curved line with a sharper crease at the end.
Once you have the queue, we can move on to step 7!
Step 7
You’ve already drawn two paws for the cheetah drawing, so let’s add the next two in this seventh step.
The front leg is easy, just as straight as the other front leg. The second one gets a bit more complex, but if you follow the reference image closely, you won’t have any problems!
It will be slightly more curved than the other back leg, so as long as you follow the design of the other back leg but with a greater angle, you’ll easily get through this step!
Step 8
We’ve got the teardrop on our face, slender legs built for speed, and the last recognizable element of a cheetah are some dots we’ll add in this step.
Cheetahs have a lot of little black dots, so this step may require some patience to draw them all. It will be worth it because the stitches round off the drawing nicely!
