Police are investigating the death of a young girl who fell from a moving vehicle in the Northern Territory.
Officers said today an investigation was opening into the incident earlier this week that initially left the seven-year-old girl with serious head injuries.
At around 4pm on Sunday, the girl was travelling with her father and several other people in a vehicle about 25km east of the town Harts Range, which is 200km north-east of Alice Springs.
During that journey, police believe she fell from the moving vehicle.
She was first taken to a Harts Range clinic before being flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Police road crash experts have travelled to the area to investigate the incident.
Investigations continue.
