A Queensland woman has been sentenced to nine months probation after pleading guilty to assaulting her son with a wooden spoon.
The 46-year-old Gold Coast woman from Paradise Point appeared in Southport Magistrates Court today.
The court heard the woman had smacked her son after finding out he used her credit card to buy $600 worth of video games.

The woman's lawyer told the court she had lost custody of both her children.
Magistrate Mark Bamberry told the court he understood "why she's done what she's done".
"I can only imagine how difficult this is as a single mother with two children to make ends meet," he said.
The magistrate said while he had been smacked as a child the behaviour was not acceptable.
"I was struck by my grandfather about 40 years ago," he said.
"Unfortunately society has moved on and that behavior isn't tolerated."
