As a blogger myself, I find it difficult to accept a gag order on service personnel, but at the same time, my military status makes it understandable. Sometimes we have to do things we don't like, in defense of freedom, even if it means that our freedoms are limited in the process. Tough line to toe, but it is what it is. Better to be alive and safe, than dead but free to blog. Of course, guidelines could clarify what is acceptable and what is not, and higher-ups will usually get those guidelines wrong, but the intent makes sense.
