Israeli Bikini Beauty Gal Gadot: Campaign Not ‘Pornographic’

By Bethany on July 22, 2010 · Filed Under Current Events, social

The Israeli bikini babe whose racy picture has set tongues wagging from Tel Aviv to New York’s Turtle Bay insisted Tuesday that she was just using her assets to improve Israel’s war-torn image and didn’t intend to offend anyone.

The stunning former Miss Israel and model, Gal Gadot, said she is proud of her sexy photograph — part of a new tourism campaign touted by the Israeli Consulate that showcases a host of scantily clad Hebrew hotties.

“Obviously, I don’t think it’s pornographic, or I wouldn’t have done it,” said Gadot, 22, who’s starting law school in the fall.

She added, “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Israel is a democracy and that’s what it’s all about.”

Her picture appeared on an official invitation sent out by the consulate in New York. It touched off an uproar in Israel, where several female politicians denounced it as the wrong way to promote the Jewish state.Gal Gadot

Are there any guidelines that are set when you win the Miss Israel contest. When you win the Miss America contest you sign a contract and have certain rules and such on your contract that they can and can not do. If it wasn’t in her contract there is nothing that can be done about the photo’s.

I don’t think that this action was inappropriate, as she had good intentions for doing it and the consulate approved it and had full knowledge. Having said that, I do think that this is the wrong way to promote an entire country, as it is not representative of the country’s character and it is clearly drawing on something that has little to do with the appeal of the actual country.

Leave the poor girl alone. These are not porn pictures. She is attractive and she is using what she has. I think the people complaining are simply jealous.

My opinion is send her to war…she’ll stop all that fighting.
I know if a pretty girl came between to fighting guys they would stop.

I wonder if they would fight over her though?

    Thanks,

I don’t think this has something to do with the Jewish state or jews in general…she won a beauty contest, this doesn’t mean she is representative for the entire country!

She is certainly easy on the eyes.

She’s as beautiful as the country she’s from. Where did you get the information that she got money for this, i don’t know.

Interesting that female beauty is still considered controversial in that country. I suspect that most of the politicians who were annoyed were doctrinaire feminists.

Their reaction is ironic, since Israel has a reputation for being an open and liberal society. It’s the non-democracies surrounding Israel that are known for having a much more conservative attitude to women!

Interesting! Was she promoting the Jewish State or simply trying to promote herself? I do not understand negativity that’s associated with a sexy image.

I think we all need to be careful about asking the most beautiful women in certain countries to cover up more then the less attractive women are asked to. Either something is vulgar or it isn’t…it shouldn’t depend on her 1-10 score if it is!

This is a very important issue and it’s been happening in American for awhile now. It seems like every Ms. America or Ms. Universe has problems representing the ethical values they are apparently lauded for. Maybe we need to ask different questions during the contest and not expect such dichotomous results.

come on! it doesn’t matter which kind of promotion she gets, she knows that and was clever enough to market herself in the right way!
